We are sad to report that Phyllis Creighton, who worked as a translations editor with the DCB/DBC for some 50 years, died on June 25 at the age of 94. Phyllis was deeply devoted to the DCB/DBC and insisted on maintaining the highest possible standards in her work. She remained engaged with the project after her retirement and was particularly enthusiastic about our recent biographies of enslaved people in Canada. “What a privilege I enjoyed to work for the Dictionary for 50 years,” she wrote last year, “finding the pioneers and builders of Canada.”
